I believe we have all been there.... I know I have and am just coming out of it. I recently had back surgery (actually 2) and lost my job working as a senior manager at The Heritage Company, a company that raises money for non-profit charities. When I look back I really am in a way glad this happened. It did cause me undo hardships personally and financially, but it is a corupt industry. We raised funds for legitimate charities for the most part... MADD, State Special Olympics Programs, etc... and the president would not take on any "BS" charity. Basically one that didn't get any of the proceeds. Well this changed around end of 2004. The company was losing money or atleast way below where projected so we began calling for "children's wish", a charity that only recieves a VERY low % from the fundraiser ( I believe it was in the 20%'s maybe 30's at the most) and then uses even less for their work once they recieve it. This can be covered up because they (children's wish) and other charities show only their "fundraising cost" and "public awareness" doesn't count as that.. Oh yeah.... The phone calls were also "public awareness" calls too.... Well you see where I am going. There were drugs everywhere and that was excepted my most as they didn't drug test for fear of losing or not being able to hire applicants- is what a VP once stated to me. Harassment and discrimination was crazy.. One department said they "would not take any colored" people because of various reasons and sexual harassment was even worse. A Director told me that the VP of dept. had talked to a girl (who is now a Senior Manager for the second time... HMM) and kept her from complaining about the VP of the company harassing her... Supposedly according to the conversation he (THE VP) Said to her he would drink her bathwater if he could sleep with her... and so on... Now you are even getting the bigger picture..... So, basically the company did what it did to me what it does to most customers.... Screwed me over... Don't get me wrong I am a disgruntled former employee, but these are true statements above to the best of my knowledge if I wasn't present and there are a lot worse, but I don't want to go further, because that's not what this is about...
